Cafes and Frogs

This past weekend I went home to visit Mom and Dad for a little bit. Mom took me to a really adorable German cafe in Durham called Guglhupf. It had such delicious pastries, an outdoor patio with a fountain, and liquor bottles near the kitchen (I bet their cocktails are aaaamazing!)

Mom got a parfait and I had muesli with a banana chocolate chip muffin.

Pastries on the bottom and liquor on the top… my kind of place🙂

This is the epitome of what visiting my mother looks like. Pooka is forever on my lap, biting my hands, and growling like a gremlin.

After my visit, I was able to pack up my vintage wingback armchair. We found a spot for it in the office and it’s really nice to curl up in it with breakfast or my needle and yarn. I just started a blanket for baby Peter so I imagine I’ll be in this chair quite a bit in the next few months.

We had some lovely rain on Sunday, which was nice because it’s been sooo hot lately.

We even had a little friend visit us in our basil plant. So here’s what’s so crazy about this picture. This frog was in our plant on Saturday and Phillip got him out and onto the ground in the grass. The next day, HE WAS BACK in the exact same spot. The best part? We live on the third freakin floor haha! Little dude is a trooper. The rains came shortly afterwards though so I guess he was happy to hop along to wetter pastures.😉

Rachel’s Birthday Dinner

Happy birthday Rachel!

Phillip’s sister turned 25 yesterday and we went out to dinner with her and her roommate, Adam, along with a few of their other friends. We actually went to the same restaurant that Phillip and his friends took me to on my birthday last year – one of those awesome family style hibachi places.

We sat at the sushi bar and had some pineapple drinks while we waited for two more people to arrive. I got a Naked Pear, Rachel had a Cherry Blossom, Phillip got a Pineapple Paradise and Dave got a Red Headed Slut in honor of Rachel and immediately regretted not ordering a colorful drink with an umbrella like the rest of us.

This place has the BEST veggie tempura so I definitely got some of that, along with some chicken teriyaki. I’m never able to eat my entire meal when we go out, let alone an entire hibachi meal, so we went in knowing that we were going to be bringing home leftovers. They’ve got this white sauce that’s legit just called White Sauce and I swear, everyone wants to take home little buckets of it with their leftovers. It really does make every piece of food way more delicious.

We got home and brought Locke over to her apartment while some of us attempted to eat her organic raspberry chocolate cake from Fresh Market. It was really delicious even though I’m not usually a fan of fruity desserts, but I had no room left in my belly to each much at all.

Adam came over to check out the new computer and he and Phillip geeked out for a bit on HOTS. I can tell they’re both really going to enjoy playing on this thing.

It was a great day and even though P is still pretty worn out from the weekend, I know that he had an awesome time with everyone.

For the past two weeks I have been SO ready to start shooting all my summer looks but the weather has been totally against me! We shot this look on a cold and windy day, but luckily, we were able to squeeze into this neat alley so that my hair wouldn’t be in my mouth in every single picture haha!

This sweater is a hand me up from my younger sister, and Phillip bought the jacket for me last year when I finally got rid of the faux leather jacket that was falling apart. What a guy, huh? Even with the jacket, the sweater looked a little bare so I added my grandfather’s dog tags to give it a little something (and give me a little bit of sentiment).

These high waisted denim pants are my new favorite thing. I’m excited to wear them in warmer weather with the infinite number of crop tops I own. I love how they look with my little cut out booties too!🙂

I found this amazing swimsuit at a thrift store for a dollar last year. After thorough cleaning and endless doting, I finally put it on to discover it was an absolute perfect fit for my body.

I’m not the type to let it all hang out when I’m at the beach (mostly for the children’s sake) but I would totally rock this on the boardwalk with some black denim shorts and Adidas sneakers. I’ll be making a beach trip for some blog looks so stay tuned!

Happy weekend!

It’s been a while since my last post! I was staying at my mom’s for a while so she could take off with some girlfriends to Vegas. It was a nice little getaway for me but I didn’t have nearly as much fun as she did.🙂

With the warmer weather finally showing up, I’ve been stowing away all my winter gear and unpacking my dresses, skirts, and lightweight pants. This is a skirt that I immediately fell in love with when I bought it. My favorite part is the wide section at the top. I can wear it as a high-waisted skirt or I can fold it down and turn it into a hip hugger. I love me some versatility!
